You begin this mission by speaking with Spirit of Ao the Fourth Born in
Arcstone. He requests that you obtain the Codex Artifice. This book,
written by Ayonae, and will help reveal how to obtain the chime to enter
the Plane of Music. Move south to the island which contains the portal
to Skylance and zone in. The initial chamber is void of any KoS mobs.
Head up the ramp to the first portal, and when you group is set, zone in.
You will likely agro 1-4 mobs on zoning into the Library, and the rest as
you fight initial agro as they path around the central area. These mobs will
respawn, so be aware. Once cleared your first task is to speak with the
sympathetic student, which is on the lower level. Only one person needs
to do this, preferable with fd, fade, sneak, etc. Doing so advances the mission.
Next you need to kill 2 guardians for their halves of the codex, Assistant
Gareth and Assistant Venorin.
Assistant Venorin - He is located on the platform to the left, is now permarooted,
and summons "a Skylance bookword" numerous times during the fight. To complicate
matters, he also has a single target Knockback which can knock you into other mobs.
Your best bet is to burn him down very quickly to prevent the knockbacks, and deal
with the worms after. Loot from him the First Half of a Skylance Symbol.
(note: the knockback is flagged as beneficial, and thus unresistable. However, try
/blockspell add me 905 to block the spell and become immune to it)
Assistant Gareth - He is located on the platform to the right, is now permarooted,
and summons "a possessed book" numerous times during the fight. You can either
burn him down while cc/ot the books, or go more slowly killing each add as they spawn.
Loot from him the Second Half of a Skylance Symbol.
Make sure the same person loots both halves. Once you have both, run up to The
Head Librarian and turn them in, you get the Codex in return. Port out and take this back
to Ao to complete the mission. A chest will spawn with loot only the group can access:
