where to hunt nowadays?

lvl 58 shaman 0 AA and crappy equipment

I just came back to EQ (Living Legacy) and wondering what's a good zone for solo exp and maybe some equipment improvement?

The other thing is: I dont even know how to fight anymore. In which order to cast which spells and/or melee etc.

What would be a efficient sequence for a lvl 58 with almost all spells up to his level?

Here are the relevant hotzones, which will have extra XP modifiers:
Level 60 Riwwi, Coliseum of Games
Level 65 Torden, Bastion of Thunder

For soloing (root-rotting), it's usually:
1. resist debuff
2. root
3. slow (in case root breaks)
4. cripple (in case root breaks)
5+ DoTs, preferably any without an initial DD component; not sure if you have any of those yet or not.

If it's something you feel you can tank (slowed/crippled with a HoT on yourself), you'll want to acquire Spirit of the Jaguar for yourself and your pet. The spell drops from A Shissar Priest in Ssraeshza Temple; also purchased from DON merchants in Lavastorm, for 75 Ebon or Radiant Crystals (currency rewards from DON missions, which you can usually purchase for plat in the bazaar).

You might want to warm up in the 55 hotzone, Crypt of Nadox while you get re-acquainted with your shaman. Can pick up that expansion's mini-torpor (Stoicism, I believe) while you're there and blood of nadox for group-curing goodness.

When I came back I just bit the bullet and picked up Jaguar in the bazaar (maybe it was Puma? one of the proc buffs). I'm sure it was overpriced, but the last thing I wanted to to when I got back was figure out how much I didn't know about the current state of flags & factions.

TONS of just-came-back threads here with great info about the recent changes, too. The reference tree info to the right, under General - can catch you up a bit, too.

If you have about 10-12K in the bank...
Go to the bazaar and buy the ornate chain legs mold. 3 chain links and 1 tannan hammer. Go make a pair of PoP chain legs (on the Plane of Tranquility). (full quest writeup on http://www.eqtraders.com - use the quest link on the left, then pop - that should get you close). These legs have a clicky effect of root (3 sec casting time) they are awesome for root+rotting.

Pull with a malosini spell, immediatly click legs to root. Backup out of melee. Slow. Then apply a poison dot, if root breaks re-root.

Visible Armor: buy the tradeskilled energaic armour in the bazaar - should be pretty cheep - 1-2K each. At level 59 you can buy defiant energaic, which will last you all the way to 70 - but is a lot more expensive.
Jewellry: Buy Velium Trio jewellry molds, stick 3 gems in - you will be amazed how good it is. There is a jewellry calculator somewhere that shows you what you can do.
