Anyone ever encountered a situation of not killing enough mobs by finish time? I'm wondering if success is ENTIRELY survival-based, or if there's a minimum number of kills to win.

MPG Trial Proven Successful Strats

Fear: 15 minutes

This trial has four basic types of mobs that come in two varieties: skeleton, elemental, wolf, dragorn all either fearable/non-mezzable or non-fearable/mezzable (and easily VPable as well.) The fearable mobs will come as name "an elemental, a wolf, a cackling skeleton etc", the non-fearable as "a fearless x"

Start this trial in the East side of the room in the cubby.

These mobs will come in sets of 4, I have heard reports of 5 at a time, but i suspect these were residual mobs from groups that lacked DPS. The amount of fearable/non-fearable in a wave is random, ive had all four of both before. All fearing classes have the ability to fear some of these mobs, they are pretty low level, but despite this, they hit like a truck, so do not attempt to fight the fearable mobs. Each fearable mob takes about 3 hits of fear to "kill" them, the others are a little less than a standard MPG mob. If everyone is assisting your main tank, the trial is easy, broken mezzes cause lots of frustration because your bard/enchanter are likely busy fearing as well and will have a hard time doing both if mezzes are broken.

All mobs are slowable, but do not hit that hard. There is no boss at the end, you need to beat 4-5 waves of these monsters to win. Having a single person to handle the fearing can be sufficient if they know what they are doing, i've had a bard successfully do mezzing/fearing with no one else capable, granted, I used VP every round to secure one of the mezzable mobs till he got to it.

Just a couple of corrections:

#1: It is impossible to have 5 mobs at once because...

#2: Mobs do not come in "waves" in this trial. When each mob is killed, there is a timer of maybe 20 seconds or so (not sure on the exact time) before another mob that model spawns. If you are alert, you can easily tell, "Okay, we just killed the wolf, so he's the next spawn, and that dragorn is probably going to die of fear before we finish beating down the skeleton, and the elemental is mezzed over there in the corner, so next spawn is wolf, then dragorn, then skeleton..." In fact, this is pretty much the way you have to do it unless you have heavily redundant classes or more gear than you really need.

#3: No fearable mob should require three casts of fear to die - my general tactic as an enchanter is to fear a mob with Trepidation, tash it as it flees, and then overwrite Trepidation with Invoke Fear when the mob is around 55%. I virtually never see a fearable mob come back to camp with this method. Also, the fearable mobs proc so get Tribunal up to try to take the bite of it if they do get one in.
