That's true, it was actually pretty accurate. Downplayed was the roll of the thespians during the fight, it was 300 spartans and around 700 thespians in actuality, and while historically there was a traitor who let the persians know of the goat paths to get behind the spartans, there was no record of the traitor being a deformed person or anything. Most of the parts of fiction put into the story were taken from the graphical novel 300 however, and not put there by the director, who was being true to the graphical novel.
