Errrr the AE from the splits when they die is definitely avoidable by backing off - or at least, it was when we were doing this fight a couple of years ago. It was also more (a lot more) than either 500 or 2000 damage - it was big enough that some poorly-geared folks were in danger of getting low enough to get blood aggro if they stayed in range, so it must have been 8k or so at least, I think. I can't check Lucy from work to find out exactly though.

With the way the Queen wanders around, if you set up a pattern, it's easy to manage. If memory serves me correctly, she picks a random person in the guild to target and then she moves to that person...or more precisely, she moves to where that person was when she targeted them. That's the key.

If you have people spread out all over the place, she can wander all over the place, picking random people and seeming to take a very random pattern. If you have your guild grouped up in one area, like along the West wall (just as an example) she moves to that area, and you can begin to control her movements.

Since she's slow, as she's coming over, you have someone watching and call to MOVE EAST. Everyone runs East. Drag mobs with you if you're mid-combat. Then she'll pause for a bit, set off the AE where you USED TO BE, then target and guess what...she'll move East right towards you, because that's where everyone is. When she gets close, you MOVE WEST and everyone runs West, right past the Queen who's still moving East to where you USED TO BE!. Rinse and repeat.

Run back and forth, back and forth, (North/South or East/West) across the big round room. Don't spread out all over. Don't let your players spread out all over either. Keep them together.
