New Pally

Hi guys,

Decided to create a Paladin and I was wondering if you could give me tips.

What are your usual grouping spell lineups at 85?

What is your buff lineup usually like including self buffs?

After maxing Combat Stability / Agility and Healing Adept / Gift, where should aa's be spent? Also what are the best unique passive and activated AA's pallies get, do we get anything like SK's touch of the cursed?

Thanks
Wenya

Here is a thread about the spell line-ups before Underfoot.

viewtopic.php?f=38&t=6355&p=86430#p86430

Here's what my line-ups look like now:

Raid and most groups:

Devout Cleansing
Splash of Sanctification (Wave of Remitment if there are no frequent detrimental effects to cure)
Wave of Absolution (Burst of Morrow if I don't need Splash up)
Burst of Dawnlight
Force of the Crying Seas
Devout Force
Charge for Honor or Mark of the Pious, for groups depending upon what classes are in the group; Crush of Compunction for raids
Preservation of Tunare
Glorious Vindication
Crush of Compunction for groups, Aurora of Dawnlight for raids
Steely Stance
Protective Confession

Solo

Devout Cleansing
Wave of Remitment
Burst of Morrow
Burst of Dawnlight
Force of the Crying Seas
Devout Force
Mark of the Pious
Preservation of Tunare
Glorious Vindication
Crush of Compunction
Steely Stance or Eulogy, if appropriate
Protective Confession

My buffs (self buffs that are overwritten if I have access to other class buffs are in italics):

Devout Fury
Form of Defense
Overhaste
DS
DS
DS
Remorse for the Fallen
Armor of Unwavering Faith
Brell's
Sworn Keeper
Silent Piety
Heart of the Void
Might of Stone
Blessed Salve of Brell
Familiar1
Familiar2
Haste
Dodge Illusion
Regen potion
Clarity potion
Bst crack potion

Tonic
Steely Stance
Preservation of Tunare
Rune proc from weapon
Rune proc from shawl
---
Predator
Cloak DS
Unity x4
Vie
Spell Haste
. . . plus some that are often taking up space in my buff window but are by no means always on . . .
Inquisitor's Judgment
Champion
Lynx Line
DI
Specialty DS from mage or druid
Withstand
Healing Counterbias
Erud's Retort

I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Needless to say, our current allotment of 30 buff slots is woefully inadequate.

Leaving the aa question alone for now, have to get going.

One of the things preventing alot of discussion on this is just how general it really is. Spell lineups at 85 for more paladins will vary by needs and role. Unique and specific AA's range depending on what you do.

If you are going to tank anything ever, get shield block and use a shield.

Lots of tanking, get shield specialist to raise your group DPS.

If you ever want to solo, get slay undead and find undead content. If you don't plan to solo, these might be next to useless for you.

Extend buff AA's.

Root AA's are good if you intend to pull.

My self-buffed lineup will look something like this:
Self armor line
Aego line (Sworn protector is current one)
Brells line
Self weapon proc
Silent piety (if dealing with any spells)
Form of defense click
Clarity potion
Haste click or potion
SE potion
Overhaste clicky
Mana-regen clicky
DS-clicky
WoT line.

I'm probably missing a few, since I'm going from only memory, and you'll notice I have alot of clicky's that you may or may not have access to. Bare essentials I always go with my jr gallentry line + self armor + brells over the other combination of druid buff and symbol. The druid and symbol line works great for warriors, but with our self-armor line it doesn't make any sense for us to use it.

Not really sure of any other kind of advice to really give that's so general.

My spell line up:

1. Burst of Dawnlight (fast targetted heal)
2. Aurora of Dawnlight (mana inefficient group heal, spreads healing to who needs it, best for healing one person)
3. Wave of Remitment (group heal)
4. Wave of Absolution (second group heal, only use 2 when either a) group healing only and heavy aes or b) want ae aggro)
5. Crush of Compunction (dps/aggro nuke, this slot is usally dememmed for other spells as needed)
6. Preservation of Tunare (defensive proc, direct heal + hot)
7. Splash of Sanctification (ae heal + cure)
8. Force of the Crying Seas (aggro stun)
9. Devout Force (aggro stun)
10. Steely Stance (temporary HP buff, usually just hit it whenever it pops back up, for convenience)
11. Glorious Vindication (nuke + twinheal recourse, cast before group heal, direct heal (if time) or splash)
12. Protective Confession (hott heal/rune, cast it all the time whether its me tanking or someone else)

I use that line up probably 95% of the time, switching in undead nukes, res, root, buffs, DA, etc, as needed.

AA clicks I use:

Disruptive Persecution (fast refresh nuke + aggro + spell interrupt) (max rush to judgement to reduce recast on this and next two)
Force of Disruption (same timer as DP, spell interrupt + higher aggro, no damage)
Divine Stun (same timer as above two, smaller aggro + push stun/interrupt, no damage)
Lay Hands (single target heal - Fervent Blessing reduces recast)
Gift of Life (its a hott version of Lay Hands)
Hand of Piety (instant group heal - Hastened Piety reduces recast)
Radiant Cure (quickened radiant cure makes the cast time (not recast) faster)
First Spire - targettted group buff that increased heals cast on the person with the buff)
Second Spire - DPS spire for us, affects crits
Third Spire - Defensive spire for us
Armor of the inquisitor - amazing aa, increases heals on us, gives ac boost, effect duraction and power increases with higher levels of it
Ageless Enmity - guaranteed taunt
Beacon of Righteousness - ae aggro (cone arc) stun + hate over time
Projection of Piety - creates a pet that adds a tiny bit of dps, if it lives X seconds it poofs and transfers its high aggro to you, also, if you cast it and back off, it will immediately take aggro, so can come up with creative uses for it
Purification - instantly removes negative debuffs, works on almost everything, hastened aa to reduce recast, is a targetedversion also
Holy Steed - aa instant cast max speed horse
Cloak of Light (instant cast IVU, group version is permanent buff, but has a cast time)
Two Hand Bash - lets you bash when using 2h weapons

Those are the main aa I use that might not be obvious

Discs:

Honorific mantle: rune defensive disc, main defensive disc
Deflection 3 tick (affected by spell casting reinforcement) block disc, must have shield equipped
Holyforge, long duration "dps" disc, small increase in crits, chance to slay, and cripples
Sanctification - supposed to make you immune to detrimental spells for a few ticks, doesn't work on anything flagged unresistable though
