how to max 2h dps?

mission: to efficiently kill undead in ferrott while having fun in 1 hr intervals

im fairly new to the paladin class and have learned a lot from some posters here in game already
if anyone else can help me with which aa i could buy for the largest gains to sustained 2h dps id appreciate it

m thinking veterans wrath, burst of power, unsure of value last 3 ranks of speed of the knight. not concerned at all about burn dps as i play with a wizard when i group . i just like to log in alone and chill and swing my hammer in ferrott sometimes while chatting with friends. thanks for any advice. having a blast, struggling with sk envy but determined to stick it out

Depends on what you are looking for but I'll give you some afk dps and active dps tips. If you are looking at just upping your sustained dps in a group setting look toward the passive aa's if you are looking to help burn down a named then obviously look toward the activated and most of them overlap and compliment each other. I'll try to give a few examples.

Ways to increase active dps via AA

inquisitors judgement - this is going to greatly REDUCE your aggro, beware while tanking, often good to use projection of piety in conjunction with this if you plan on using it while tanking.

Ok so what dps you are capable of is largely dependent on gear which I know sounds obvious but it has some caveats. If you are sufficiently geared to tank the content you are attempting then things play out a little differently. If you find yourself struggling to tank the content than your dps will drop significantly as you start to incorporate stuns, heals and other defensive abilities instead of focusing on dps. I'll mostly ignore this scenario and instead assume you are geared for the content and able to afford some wiggle room on the defensive side to open up the dps but I'll start with that scenario first.

Unable to tank efficiently

You should have mostly heals and stuns loaded for this type of content. You'll also be likely to have a 1her and shield equipped which will drastically change the prioritization of your passive aa.

In this scenario you'd likely want to go with
combat fury
slay undead
shield specialist
tactical mastery
burst of power
flurry
finishing blow - will help you get blessing of the faithful to proc
blessing of the faithful - kill shot aa with a 50% dmg mod and some ac
knights return strike
vicious smash
weapon affinity

It should be noted as most are aware that you'll see your biggest gains fighting against undead so if you are soloing you'll probably be out slaying lower end content as it has the LARGEST return of all because slay scales well against older content with fewer hp. Bear in mind that slay is a fixed % of all swings to trigger a slay. So the more passive aa you have to increase your swing rate the better slay rate you'll see, it doesn't direcly increase the slay frequency because it doesn't change the fixed % but it gives you better odds at a slay trigger in the same time frame.

Capable of tanking with 0 problems and are afforded the luxury of using a 2her and nukes to tank.

This is where these aa take the dps advantage and favor 2hers over 1h/shield. You can skate by with a 1her and shield from SoD-UF until 2hers get revamped. At that point you'll see the big boom happen with a 2her equipped.

Obviously you will have carry over here from the first scenario so you'll want to do those aa first as they work well in both setups.

If you can afford the luxury of 2h tanking you can probably also put away your stuns and save them for a rainy day. I only keep 1 stun loaded at all times unless I am strategically planning to do something with the stuns, such as conserving mana or for a particular raid script.

Spells to help you a long as you've now begun work on your passive crit and increased crit aa. You should also go in search of tonic of resonant magic if you are planning on doing this.

Crush of marr
Crush of repenetence
elegy
glorious exoneration
denouncement - you'll want to cast this a lot but it isn't the most effective in a 60 second burn due to the HHE effect on valorous rage, so you'll actually have to pay attention and spell thread this one.

AA - disruptive persecution, you'll need to do all of the aa stun lines to build this nuke up to full potential and that includes the aa rush to judgement that reduces the recast.

If you multibind you'll want to make sure to always cast disruptive persecution as it is up (this also helps with aggro). From there you'll want to set the priority Glorious (so twinheal is always ticking down for when you need it) > elegy > crush of repenetence > crush of marr

Second spire is a really small gain so it can be mostly ignored as you'll want to make use of first spire more than likely. In a raid setting we use it when we are trying to max a burn.

Speaking of max burns you'll want to always burn by stacking

Valorous Rage
Righteous Indignation
Inquisitors judgement

You can set up a hotkey to fire them in that order (which is the best order to have them cast in)

Max burn includes 7th & glyph of cataclysm but I'll ignore that for now since I doubt you're too worried about a raid burn.

The gift of mana line is really great for dps as well because if you chain cast your nukes as I was saying you'll find yourself out of mana in a hurry but you will see a decent increase to your dps. If you can I'd also do his shawl (the priest one) as the mana return can help you chain nuke till your heart is content.

In a situation where you aren't the main tank but still want to dps.

take off your aggro mask
cast marrs salvation on yourself
you can load the marks instead of the crushes depending on how good the tank is

thanks for lots of good info! i really cant find any dps aa line that will give immediate boosts worthy of training. soooo. ill finish out agi/dex aa's then come back and do veterans wrath nuke aa's i think

agi and dex aa are just about completely worthless. Personally I'd train any dps aa before doing those, at least the dps ones actually do something even if it is tiny.
