These forums (software) are not good, I think we can all agree on that. Importing data that has gone through several revisions from a system we know is flawed is not a viable long term option. At some point this needs to be addressed, and the only logical time to do it is when we convert to new forums.

Is it a big change? Yes. Is it going to go 100% smoothly? No. Will we resolve issues that arise? Yes. 3 months is the minimum time we're promising to keep old data accessible, not the maximum. And if someone wants to archive it and host it people are free to do so.

We've got new forums in the works. To take a look visit http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php

It'll take time to roll them out to other games, this is where we are testing them currently.

We’ve got bright and shiny new forums coming for EverQuest!

On the morning of October 9, 2012 EverQuest will be getting a whole new forum system. These new forums will run faster, smoother, and have all sorts of fun functionality added! As a result, users of our current forums will need to create a new account for our forums after they go live.

We look forward to seeing your posts!

To help you understand this transition, here are answers to a couple common questions (shamelessly stolen from Brasse).

We will be archiving the old forums as read-only for a period of at least several months (several being more than two). This should allow everyone plenty of time to retreive what they want and need from the old forums. We are NOT going to keep them forever, but we'll provide 30 days notice before we do take them offline.
For those of you who want to copy the ENTIRE old forums content for perpetuity, feel free to do so. While we technically "own" the content, it is already publicly available and contains no private information.
Forumites will need to register for the new forums. Sorry guys, there is no way around this as we cannot manually transfer your data. Yes, this means you will have to request your "handle" again; these forum names will necessarily be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, as we have no way for folks to reserve names in advance.
For the first two weeks, if someone "steals" your handle, and especially if this is done with the intent to impersonate you, contact forum-admin@soe.sony.com. Our Forum Admin will be able to look up old forum data and make a call on an individual basis on the request. There is only one Forum Admin, so please be patient with your requests if an issue does arise!
Thanks,
