Trouble with Escaped sarnak

So, working the progression FOS quest Sarnak Recovery, and did the first kill 3 trackers. On the find the sarnak blah blah step, and I have killed about 25-30 escaped sarnaks with none of them surrendering.
I am either very unlucky or just flat out doing it wrong! I tried hailing them first (I am in iksar illusion) nada. tried beating them down and they have all fought to the death.

Is there anything different that I am supposed to be doing? Suspecting that maybe if it isn't just bad luck with the rng, it might be related to the iksar illusion. Would someone mind describing what happens when they surrender? Can you no longer attack them? I haven't seen any message, but maybe they have been trying to give up and I kilt them anyway! hehe.

Most likely it is just bad luck. However maybe a patch screwed it up since I last did these.

Not bugged, had a buddy popped out all three Recoveries last night. When I went through we hit a run of over a dozen on one of them, though. I suspect blind bad luck.

You get one of two emotes when they hit ~20%ish. One's some defiant bullshit about fighting, and they fight, the other one's a surrender - they turn unattackable and you get your update.

Just kill them, seems to be random.
Out of mind, first time I did it we killed an °oracle° (not shure about the name right now) and got immediately the upgrade.
Another time, we killed serveral of the meeletype (don't remeber the name) up to getting the impression that a orakle may be needed. But finally got the upgrade on the meele-type.

So it seems that you just have to kill a random number of escaped sarnacs to finally get your update.
Seems different than others experience, but finished this Quest twice since today by just killing the sarnacs, dont remember to have seen emotes and shure none turned immune to damage.

Make sure you do not have a merc or a pet on the top of the hate list. Even though in this thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts ... id=2073045, Ngreth says the scripts for Sarnak Recovery should not be effected. When we did the first one (shm, roommate's bard, and our tank and clr mercs, respectively), the Sarnaks were not even giving us the ".....I fight to the death" emote on a failed kill. Next day, drop the mercs, kill the sarnaks with just bard and shm, Ta Da, we suddenly got the "....I fight to the death" emote and eventually the "Don't hit me, I surrender" emote.

Oh that would do it. The only thing on the top of their hate list would be mercs or mage pet..

In any case, I had a guild mate get the missions for me (Thanks Hawk/Falc!) and bypassed the single missions.
