How to get it?

EDIT: Long version in subsequent posts. Short version is:

1. Click into inner Sverag and check the race of the non-agro quest npc, just inside the doors.
2. Kill mobs in Devastation and collect the nodrop body parts (heads, tentacles, whatever) of any other race, 4 of the same race though.
2. Return, get collect quest, then turn in for spell.
4. If the race in control has changed, go back out and collect from another race.

Someone mentioned faction concerns in Sverag. Is it ok to kill stuff there or have i been misinformed?

I agree with Tehya in that rarity of skins varies quite a bit depending on the circumstances at the time. I was able to solo 2-box (bard+cleric) all the skins over around 5 hours entirely in Devastation (but a lot of this was spent - afk medding back Fade mana, or training factions on each other for amusement, or killing blue-con nameds just in case, etc. Focus solely on red con kills and should def be quicker), and bolvirk and all the others simply dropped from random red-con mobs of each type - not fancy capitalised names, just red mobs of the "higher rank" types of each mob - e.g. for Wurines, it was a 'ravager' not a 'hunter', etc.

Track is invaluable, leet pulling is invaluable as pretty much all mobs are with friends. Something like half didn't summon and suffered kite death, the other half did but I was able to melee them down with cleric healing (one of them was a fairly close-run thing, others were much easier). For bard the single most annoying thing was the preponderance of different ways the different races have to snare you.

If you are bored and lacking any red cons of a particular race, amuse yourself by training them onto other races for a bit so that they die and repop. Entertained me anyway.

There were one or two obvious raid nameds amongst the crowd in Devastation too, trivial to avoid though. I pulled a few blue-con seeming named mobs while there, none of them had loot though. I pulled all mobs to a randomly chosen clear spot near zone wall each time. I didn't get any viable "loot" while there, I did get some tradeskill-usable stuff but I hate tradeskills so shrug.

To elaborate slightly further on the quest - you need to
a) collect 9 skins
b) hand them to Maelin, who hands them back, and gives you 1 "page" per skin meaning you need 18 inventory slots at this stage;
c) go buy a Book Binding (e.g. from Sissin Tanner(sp?) in EFP leather&hides building), which is a container thus you need a container slot free
d) combine all pages to create 2 books
e) take books back and give them to Maelin - this is not explicitly mentioned in the task script, which I think shows 'completion' when you do the combine. He gives them back, gives you spell, and gives you unlimited-duration group task "Becoming the Vessel", which is a task for Sverag instance access (i.e. "progression" of some kind). This new task starts with... collection of drops from Devastation I know some people have already done this, I'm not one of them.

Well - 18 inventory slots in that you need 9 for the pages, and 9 for the skins you collected as you get them back. Yes, if you wisely get the Book Binding first this should provide you with some of them!

Easiest way to get giant skin is to go to Sverag and kill the named "The Subjugator" or something similar, no matter what faction controls Sverag at that point he allways drops the giant skin. Other skins except evil are are pretty easy to get with a decent group with good puller(s). Best is to have at 2 (or more) pullers one to pull bunch of mobs and another one to tag, bards shine here as they have track. We had a bard, necro & monk in group there was nothing we couldn't pull

I got my evil eye skin rather easy, just ran east along the wall a ways until I hit an area with alot of evil eyes. We got a couple reds no problem.

Camped this in destruction for a couple hours last night. Was interesting. We were camping near the wall of the castle. The different types of mobs would wander around and aggro on each other and kill each other. We did wipe or have to evac a couple times because we got stuff wandering into our camp and wiping us. On the bright side everything red dropped at least one skin and we did have one that dropped 2 skins. In 3 hours I think everyone in the group got 3 or 4 skins. Would probably take a little longer to finish it off just because we'll start needing specific types of skin and would probably have to move to a different location.

Training opposing armies on each other in Devastation is completely neccessary, both to keep the general population down for clean pulls and to pop the monsters you're looking for.

Campng the skins in Devastation will vary a lot by group. If you are near the center and have a really good bard or SK puller plus a mezzer for occasional adds you basically get non-stop skin droppers solo. Monks are great but it will take them some time to get solo mobs out of the mess. You can get all the skins you need for everyone in the group in 2 to 3 hours. If you don't have that kind of talent pulling then it's going to take a very long time to get all the skins. [Lol. Bard + Sk + cleric is just plain close to cheating.]

I was with a really skilled SK and we got the 15 or 20 drops we needed in a little over an hour. The group next to us got 1 in that time. The difference was pullers. These shouldn't be so puller specific but I'm seeing a lot of stuff in PoR that is trivial with great pullers and really tough without them.

spent a while farming skins tonight.....pulls are pretty easy to pick if you are patient....finding a safe place to set up a camp is quite another story.... any place on the fort walls appears safe for the most part, but every few minutes or so, there will be wanderers either from the field or circling the fort that wants to take a stroll into the camp areas. see-invis generally wasn't a problem, any bolvirk conning 71+ always sees invis from what I've experienced. but other mobs generally don't....

skin drop rate was 100% from red con mobs....never saw any drop from lesser cons. also, depending on where you camp, a note of caution, a few (I assume) raid mobs do spawn out in the fields from time to time....easy to spot from across the zone, they are big, red, wandering see-invis...they tend to have models from larger mobs that you wouldn't expect to appear in the zone. a couple I saw were Bazu, Kessadona dragon model and such.

while in sverag, which as of last night, was controlled by the Bolvirk on drinal, I did encounter 5 evil eyes in the south-east, in one of the hallway corner rooms, red con named with 4 yellow con eyes around it. attempted a pull, but an over-eager ranger wiped us with the adds, found the name hitting in the 5kish range. despite hitting like a freight train, the short while we lived through the fight, the named didn't seem that tough.

best advice: bring a necro, and a couple of stacks of EEs, you'll want that safety net anywhere in these zones.
