Sorry for getting so worked up about it, I guess it just seemed like this year alot of people (companies, media, friends) were trying extra hard to not say "Christmas" and it was still fresh in my mind when I came to read this post so I took things a little differently than I would have say...last year. About "Xmas", that was the first time I had heard that the X was actually an abbreviation for Christ rather than just removing Christ from it. And yes..I have heard people say "Xmas" instead of Christmas in person, not in writing... so when I read it, I picture someone that would say it that way.

I think people need to be able to separate the religious/spiritual nature of holidays from the commercial aspects.
Santa Claus, Christmas Trees, etc - commercial/cultural/folklore aspect of this time of year. You don't need to accept Jesus Christ as your Personal Saviour to give (or get) presents; they are not connected.
Birth of Jesus, Solstice, Yule, etc - religious/spiritual aspect of this time of year.
Wish me a great Christmas, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, Chanukka, whatever - I'll thank you, and accept your intentions of blessing.
I don't get offended, except when people or cards declare or imply that if I don't believe what they believe, I'm wrong. And I don't understand why others would, either.
