This is hardly geeky. I think it starts getting geeky when you have a spreadsheet set up that models DPS for different casting order, which I've seen a lot of shaman do on these boards. But doing this can be quite an exercise in optimisation when you consider how many soloing scenarios there are (mobs, gear, DoTs in your book, to name the major ones). I enjoyed doing it for my shaman for the two places I loved soloing at 75, and the odd raid mob that allowed me the time to do DPS.

I must admit I don't have the concentration stamina to land 100% of my DoTs a second after the 'your spell has worn off' message, for more than Lesson's duration. To make it easier I have 3 solo spell sets that I use as timers via the scribing duration. I guess if I didn't chat to friends or eat and drink it may happen more often but who wants to be a robot all the time eh

Commenting on the multiple mob style (jekrnu); this becomes much more realistic once your mana pool is big enough so that you can keep it up. Personally I only started doing this when my mana pool was around 11-12k with raid focii, and it got even easier when I got my root ring. Before that it just wasn't as efficient as doing the mobs one at a time and concentrating on killing a mob every 2 mins like Retron.

I've been soloing alot on Direwolves by Valde zone. Generally, without pushing it too hard, I reach around 850-900 DPS. I generally just pull with Malo, then PD before the mob gets too close since the lag in the zone is bad for pathing, and then VP. Stack whatever dots, and just make sure the mob is dead before VP wears off. This is my 'lazy' soloing.

Now, when it comes to lesson, I aim to beat my own records I've set for most exp. Its a fun, action filled 30 minutes and makes things a lot more interesting. I've developed different methods of doing this.

The one that I value the most is parking of mobs. Generally before I even fire Lesson, I'll have atleast 4, sometimes as many as 6 wolves parked at ~5-10% health. On top of that, trying to get to FM with Canni ready and full health gives me more time once Lesson is actually running. Its far from easy, as normal roots break fairly randomly, but with a lot of room it can be done. Best part of the whole thing is firing Lesson, casting 6 dots and then get almost 2 AA's instantly. After that, I'll use as many tactics I can to do multiple mobs at the same time, especially when running SC and Rabid Bear.

Now that I'm nearing 80 though, I need to find a new spot. Exp is'nt that great anymore.
