Is this combo possible at all?

There's a quest that will allow you to place a barding on holy steed. I believe you hand the ornate barding to Stable Ward Rames in the bazaar. Anyway, Rames will tell you what to do if you hail him and follow the [instructions].

i don't believe the unicorn can combine with the barding, i may be wrong.

Here's the script....

Stable Ward Rames says "That's a mighty fine steed you have there, Righteous. If I'm not mistaken, that's a Holy Steed isn't it? I see you also have some [barding] on you."
You say, "Yes, I have barding."
Stable Ward Rames says "I'd be happy to put that barding on for you. From then on, you can choose to summon a Holy Warhorse instead of your Holy Steed. Would you like me to [apply] the barding?
You say, "Yes, apply the barding!"
You have gained the ability "Holy Warhorse" at a cost of 0 ability points.
Stable Ward Rames says "Right, there you go! That sure is a beautiful horse."
You say, "Thanks! His name is Fury!"

Woot! I've been wondering this for a while, I've had the warhorse to claim on my account since SOF came out, glad I didnt waste it on an alt.

So... it makes a war-unicorn?

I've always thought unicorns were built more like Quarterhorses than Clydesdales.

But maybe that's because many artists like them better...

No, three different AA. Holy Steed, Holy Warhorse, Valiant Steed. Horse, horse-with-barding, horse-with-cancerous-forehead.
