Unable to patch test?

Not sure if this is right spot for this, if not, sorry.
Got EQ installed finally, logged onto live with no issues, made a character to testcopy over. Finished that and hopped over to Test EQ.
Patcher opens, runs through the normal scan, hits "dbghelp.dll" and stops. Says "Update Complete" but still has the "Download" button. Clicking that just repeats the dbghelp.dll bit.
Tried a full scan. it runs the entire scan, then hits that file and stops, yet again.
Opening Game Options gives the normal page, with all text replaced with "ERROR".

Was doing the same thing earlier when I originally just tried to log to test. Assumed something was wrong with my install and reinstalled. After reinstall I just went to live, assuming everything worked.
As said before, I have no issues logging into Live servers, but cannot force it to load Test. Anyone have any ideas? Rather irritating considering I've used test as my main server for some time.

If it helps, I installed off of a SoF disc, as this is the last expansion I have discs for. Hitting preferences while on the test patcher brings up a list of expansions to install files for, but only up to SoF. Not sure if it didn't patch up to most recent, and not sure how I'd force it to do so if it didn't.

If anyone has any ideas, they'd be much appreciated, coming back and being locked away from my characters is disappointing, to say the least

Edit: Browsing around, found something mentioning test patcher using a different location than I had it installed. Copied my folder over, repatching now. Crossing fingers that this works.

Edit 2: Seems to have worked, though the game window seems to go nonresponsive for a little bit every time I tab out. Dunno what's up with that
