Hey, first time posting here although i am a vet of bertoxx server. I am haveing a hard time picking a class for my main. Ive played pretty much every class except for enchanter (they arent for me) up to lvl 40 or so. Can't pick, so i need guidance on finding what I like, which prolly sounds wierd but im really frustrated. Thanks

My first inclination is to say Shaman since I enjoy it so much myself. Shaman, for example, have a happy home in raids and in groups. We can solo pretty well, which means no Shaman should ever be sitting on his ass LFG for hours on end. We've got our weak points but we've also got a ton of utility. What did you like about each class? It might help you to list their pros and cons.

Well ive talked to alot of people over the past few days and today in chat because servers are down... and i narrowed it down to shaman and druid. I want to be able to solo when im not grouping. kinda leaning towards druids since they can port, better dot than shm, nukes, debuffs, DS, skins, SoE, all that. But with shm im thinking its just slow, dot nuke and groups is buff, slow buff slow. I could be wrong tho.

It's like i need persuasion or motivation. I just read the druid forums on eq site and druids are almost a dead class as enchanters used to be. They are almsot like necros, just soloing for days on end and picking up a raid or two.

After reading those forums, it changed my mind about druid, now im leaning toward shammy as i agree with what you said about root/rot and tight quarters solo. I just need help with tactics and strategy, i need to learn about the shaman class
ps:what server you play on... im willing to start new on another server to make new friends

Other classes with high solo-ability would include wizard, bard, and necro.

All three are welcome in groups, and add a lot to raids as well.

Druid can be a fun class, but the only imo effective soloing technique for them now is charm-kiting. Rotting mobs just takes a huge amount of mana (and requisite AAs) to be effective at 70+ (and perhaps even lower). Shaman are definitely far superior at root/rotting. But, track and ports are a heckuva lot of fun, and I miss them dearly whenever I'm without. Check a druid out again...it can be lots of fun. But, for group/raid desirability...shammy all the way. Druids are almost dead for groups imo.
