Curious, other guilds

Since this game is a very mature game, fresh blood seems to be rather sparse these days. Given the regular attrition guilds have due to a multitude of reasons, how are some of you guys countering that? We had a sudden downturn in active members due to holiday season related activities, some computer issues and some burn out, which has left us close to unable to continue our level of activities. This had left us searching for a fresh infusion of players, which just don't seem to exist. Recruiting from guilds below us would be an option but is one I don't particular like. Posting on class boards, server boards and utilizing the ingame LFPlayers board has yielded next to no response. Our reputation in general is very good, our raid targets are challenging (trying to wrap up DPoB, finishing push to DK), our expectations aren't as severe as other guilds our level, so I don't feel it's an indication of the guild in itself. Are others seeing a similar trend?

Given that thought, since the server mergers things have seemed relatively stable. No signification collapse of guilds have occured (at least not on our server), but are we looking towards another downturn soon? I know holiday season always has been a slow period, from what I can tell this seems more than that though.

Have guildies push their friends in lowlevel guilds to app. It sucks having to recrute from lower end guilds, (becaues of the assholeishness of it,) but you don't really have a choice. From my experiance, guilds-post on their front page that they are pushing for apps, post on all the class forums and server boards that they are looking for apps, have members spread recruting through word of mouth, and try recruting choice players from lesser guilds.

our guild is recurting and did all of the above outside of sniping people from lesser guilds (only UK server so taking US time players doesn't work anyway.) We have some good apps currently in trial.

It may be a bit off the topic, but I have to agree with Veril about augs being an indicator when it comes to looking at applicants. If I see an applicant with no augs or poorly chosen augs, they will get a no vote from me. I know that aug choices can be somewhat subjective, but if they have made an effort to obtain the best augs within their reach, it shows me that they are willing to invest the time in their character to maximize their potential. Better gear comes with time. Flags can be obtained. A player that strives to be the best that they can is invaluable.

Honestly, everything here mentioned I've done. I may have been a little too strict when we weren't needing any people, but quality people rarely got turned away. I saved this guild post WoW/EQ2 exodus, so recruiting isn't something I know little about. My current experiences lead me to believe this is more than the usual process. Unguilded people don't exist. Some classes are almost solely bots with a few exceptions (beastlords, berzerkers). The new level cap has allowed guilds who didn't have a chance at MPG trials or Blood raids access to very good gear, so less incentive to look for guilds who can accomplish more. Progression wise we are near the top level on our server (3rd), so status in that reagard isn't really an issue. I rank attitude no.1 on my criteria for new apps as, like already said, gear and flags can be supplied rather easily. Oh well.. time will tell if this is just a worse than usual holuday season slow down or there is more going on.
