y'all notice that he didn't have the Ancient dot or click Pyrocuror from time pants, or click Darkness from time ranged in there, right? :p Or acknowledge that his epic pet was running, and swarm archers, and regular spectre, and possibly WTD pets, or count the damage that his Call For Blood nuke did? That was a nice tick, but doesn't even represent what's possible on the high end of necro damage.

To play devil's advocate, I believe the guy is simply asking for parity. To my knowledge, nuke crits only generate the noncrit portion of the aggro, leaving the crit quantity basically aggro free. While he may not be the most eloquent writer, he makes a fair point.

Well, in all fairness....

He did not include pet dps, but for numbers like these they are only marginally relevant. Spectre is decent and archers and epic click are short duratiion long recast, as is WTD. He did pick a tick where the RNG was very kind in both crits and focus, it's probably not representative of overall dps, just a lucky series of rolls and the necromancer goes splat (where the same lucky series of rolls does not affect nuke caster agro one way or the other).

Uglycrow's 2nd quote amuses me, but I love necros, and don't get me wrong, their dps is signifigant, but I have some ridiculous archery parses from back in the day too in small snippets. If a wizard casts EF at 10% for his first nuke and crits he wasn't doing 10k dps in any accepted sense = )

You're also forgetting necro dots are on 3 different resist checks make a mobs resistant to 1-2 lines and dps drops like a rock. Also he had to stack all those dots 1st and have an extremely lucky tick.

Our wizzys are doing 2.2k dps on hanvar i yet have to reach 1.3k

Please set aside all your cockswinging class arguments about what the pecking order for DPS should be. Here is the issue: There is a mechanic of the game that should work one way, but doesn't. That's it. That's the only point of the post. If Adolf Hitler himself played a shaman and proclaimed that our DoD spells sucked, it would not make the point any less valid.

You guys are so quick to jump into the "Cry more noob" bandwagon that you aren't even investing a shred of thought in the actual point of the thread. I'm not perfect either, and I'll freely admit I've fallen prey to the same reasoning. However, as fellow DoT users we should at least understand somewhat the issue presented in that thread; especially since we can't feign, and thus the superfluous aggro actually detriments us more.

I think aggro on DoTs is fine as it is.

If you want to have that kind of DPS, you take the risks, so quit whining IMO. No sympathy from me at all.

I stack the DoTs and add in DD sometimes and I don't get aggro. It's more about knowing when to stack them. If I screw up I expect to pay the price.

Wow, we have really different perspectives, then. I almost never lose a rogue or monk or berserker (typically have four in group with me & a bard), even loading them up with Panther all the time.

The issues are:

1) Player with insane DPS
2) Aggro management
3) Risk/reward
4) The aggro reducing AAs as they work now
5) The aggro reducing AAs as certain people wish them to work
6) The rich getting richer

In one sentence:

Player with insane DPS is unhappy with risks/aggro mgmt whines for AAs to be re-structured to accommodate his luxurious "needs."

Oh cry me a 1-900-MixALot river, if you don't want to die then you need to watch your dps, just like rogues, wizzies and berserkers do. If you push dps, you chance dying. We have our rogues and berserkers that push dps, and they die sometimes, but put out some great numbers most of the time. Then you have the ones that don't push, and you never see them dying, but they do no where near the dps of the other ones. We all have to watch our agro in raid encounters, I see no reason to give necros (who I feel are overpowered as it is), a way out.

I will say that I would like to see the SCS aa fixed so that it does work on each tick, but I don't wish to see it done because I am sympathetic to the necro's plight, but just because that's how it should work. But, as Aruman said, I have no problem with avoiding agro for the most part (in raid settings that is a non issue because I rarely dps much on raids - but in xp groups I dot all the time, as I'm guessing most do), and that is without FD, so I don't want to hear their sob stories.

Recognise in there somewhere that shm agro is the same whether tanks are wielding BBoB/2.0 w/ Planesmaster Click and Panther (which is typical for you or I), or wielding 1.5/Despair with Leopard, or even dual Axe of the Barbarian King (which are immesurably more common scenarios). What's not apparently broken to you (or me) may be very different one step down on the uberness scale.

Ironically, there are probably more necros that prefer SCS to continue to be broken on dots than hope that it is fixed. They are the ones that are also asking for the poison agro un-Nerf to be undone, as well.

Dps goes up to 1200 if you go to the actual end of the fight~.

And that's his log, with his pets' damage filtered out, so dots only :p I'll have to look for mine from the same fight to see if I can find their damage!

edit: I looked, my parses can't identify which spectre was his. I have a Xoneker and Genab both just over 110dps, I assume one of those belonged to the magician. He seems not to have used swarmpets. Presumably saving them for second Tunat, like melee do with discs.

p.s. - I hope it goes without saying that the gentleman's name who generated that parse should not be spread about. He's definately in Necro Club.
