exactly what ive been saying, we dont get beat on enough to really make $$ off of 20 extra ac on a shield. if you have no other aug to put on a sheildm then AC is better than nothing, but i make $$ off hps and mana at all times.
again, parses are great and all, but they must apply to what really goes on to be applicable. if i only get swatted once and a while, a parse of tanking a mobs for 6 hours and the difference 20 extra ac on a shield can make is moot.

I'll run the parses when I have some free time. I can keep myself up indefinately against a slowed MoB in WoS with my own HoT and my Clericbot tossing complete heals every now and then. I'll run through a few of her mana bars of parses both ways. Maybe an hour or two each, and post the data here.
Anyone have a preferred parser? I was going to look for YALP but if there's something niftier out feel free to let me know.
For this to be worth it for me that extra 20AC needs to save me a bunch of damage. Regardless of people's opinions as to whether or not a Shaman without an AC aug in their shield is wrong.

The way I see it, if it's a noticable difference ... awesome. If it's not ... gogo HP augs. When I duo I tank, but I don't really have the desire (or the time) to play outside of raids much lately. In raids I've been known to pull aggro on inc because I slow aggressively. I remember seeing somewhere that about 12-15% avoidance = 1% chance to miss for us. So if a 20AC aug can mitigate something similar then it's worth it. If it's not ... it's not. I'll probably be bored enough after spending five hours doing the smithing combines for my Bazu Aug to run a straight hour of parses both ways. I might even remove my 15 avoidance aug for a third parse and see which is more beneficial to us.

Only shields in the shield slot. Can't Bash with it, so it doesn't get the "under cap" special treatment.
My thing about the avoid vs ac effectiveness is that it's something easily misunderstood. At no point will a trade between the two be a reasonable debate, since one can't use 20x 15avoid augments (over avoid cap) and even if you could use 19, they'd be competing for the other augment slots in shaman gear, not secondary-shield slot.

I've had no effing luck getting that AC aug to drop. Either it's camped and they need one if it drops, or I get Warclasp Earrings. On a side note, I did Primals with a friend and the plate class 30AC aug dropped.
