Has the Panther proc rate vs. variables been parsed?

Specialised groups will never hurt you (assuming you're not doing something stupid while "specialising" for a given raid), and in many cases can lead to large boosts in performance. Keeping say...1 shaman pet + 5 melee + 2 or 3 other pets panthered and champed (and adding epic clicky during /disc burn periods) will be a HUGE proportional increase in dps at your stage of progression (hell, that contribution is probably close to where your melees are in terms of dps).. At the same time, you have to remember that blood of nadox for curing is absolutely critical on many fights, and often times its not the melee dps group that needs it.

Basically you have to take it on a fight by fight basis, but any time you can spare a shaman to plug in with 5 melee (preferably any bsts you have, and SKs if they don't have tanking duties as brohg mentioned...god i love their ae taunt spells...), you're gonna get a significant dps boost. As always, YMMV, but I don't think its a coincidence that melees tend to parse raids where they have a shaman in group when they're shooting for an epeen boost

Also, are you guys doing anything in DoN? IIRC there are some p4+ caliber drops from lower difficulty progression encounters that you might want to take a look at. Tirranun, comes to mind, drops stuff like: , , and a variety of Faerune items (silk/leather/plate/chain) w/ a few type 2 mods on them, maybe even start working toward Rikki and Kess. Tirranun is basically one of those..don't really want to say technical fights, but one where you win based more on knowing the encounter, and developing/executing your strat than your gear, so that's another thing to consider, along with like, goblin dojo, stuff like that. Since you said you're not full time you probably have more than enough targets between Time and Qvic/GoD progression, but if you're looking for a change of pace this might be somewhere to look, and getting your raid as many DoN aa's as you can won't hurt either.

Panther procs about every 5 seconds on melees. It will do no good on rangers who are RANGE fighting. Good for rangers tho if they are meleeing instead of range fighting.
It procs about every 3-4 seconds on pets. Pets can't crit panther tho.

Panther procs a 400 damage -300 CHROMATIC nuke, which means it is very, very hard to resist. The main exception to this are Ikaavs, which mitigate panther to 200 damage each proc.
If the melee (or caster) has crit AAs, Panther can crit for 900 instead of 800 (at least my shaman does).

Panther can only be cast on group members or their pets.
It lasts 90-96 seconds with full AAs and foci.

I haven't fully parsed it yet, but with Combat Effects +17 I seem to notice that Panther procs sooner than every 5 seconds. It may have always been that way, will have to confirm.
You can proc panther on a MISS, and also when your weapon's innate proc goes off. Yes, you can double proc on a single swing -- panther + weap proc. So, panther does not interfere with other procs. Stacking is not an issue. Haven't looked into exceptions like the Planesmaster proc nor bard buff procs, although I have procced 125 bard proc while also proccing panther at 400 (never on the same swing tho).

Like Brohg says, panther doesn't care who it's on -- dual-wielding rogue, cleric hammer, wizzy sword, pally... it will proc often, the main differences being whether the panther-wearer can crit (pets cannot), and crit for more than double damage (2.25x base damage for those with Destructive Fury3 AA).

With weapon Affinity AA, it would follow that panther would proc a little sooner than normal. I haven't personally tested this tho.

And lastly, panther procs do create some aggro for the melee. Hope that answers most of your questions.

do you guys have your misses on? a proc can occur on a miss and you can look up later to see 2 procs and a hit and think, oh gee thats neat. Just make sure rather than assuming please. If thats the way it works thats kewl, but don't just post it because you think so. I 2box a war who dual wields 2 weapons with innate procs and augs in them. With panther I have never seen more than one proc per swing, and I know for a fact I have my misses on (my misses are orange colored, my hits are yellow - their hits are red thier misses are white). I am not watching all the time and its not something I have every truly watched for an extended period, but if it was possible I do believe I would of seen it by now...but sometimes RNG is funny.

So make sure your misses are on and find one you yourself witnessed as a double proc (lowbie mobs are perfect for this as only one swing is needed). In the meantime I will look for it myself (war has clicky proc buff so I can test it pretty well)
