Anyone know if from the anguish BP will simply not work at all for spells over lvl 70 or if the effect will degrade like a focus?

Ancient spells are never looked at for balance purposes. Just like Pained Memory was not an upgrade from Ancient Chaotic Pain, Ankhaul's is not an upgrade from Ancient Wilslik's Mending. If you insist on running this comparison instead of just feeling fortunate you have the good spell, do it correctly, using Yoppa's Mending, which is the parallel for those that should be upgrading to groupable 71+ spells.
To summarize:
Groupable before 71: Yoppa's Mending
Groupable after 71: Ankhaul's Mending II
Compare those two, then bitch if you don't find improvement.

Yeah, losing focus effect power REALLY sucks.
I do believe though that the focus doesn't drop by 10% per level on the original amount. What I mean is....
50% heal focus at level 70 with 10% loss above.
At level 71 its 10% from 50 which drops by 5% to 45%, BUT at level 71 its 10% off of 45% which drops it by 4.5% not 5%=40.5%
At level 73 its 10% off of 40.5% which drops it 4.05% which is now 36.45% level 46 drops only 3.64% down to 32.81%
Finally at level 75 its 10% off of 32.81 which drops it another 3.28 for the final of 29.5% focus for level 75 spells.
If it took a total of 10% from 50% each time, then at level 70 it would be a 25% focus, instead I believe it is almost 30%.
I would like a real backup by the devs to prove this, but I remember reading a discussion about it awhile back.
