TBS: first glance.....

Ok, figured I would make the first post, since I really haven't seen any posts on it yet....

I wasn't in beta, so everything I have seen comes from the few hours I was on before the emergency patch.

- access to TBS is achieved through a guild hall port stone or boats via Tox?
- Katta looks pretty neat, but a lot of repetitive building structures that cause me to get lost easily....
- Spells, gear, and energians all seem to be vendor purchased ala TBS currency (rumored that some energians are avaliable via
tradeskills)

- lots of red con mobs to lvl 67 (possibly 71- didn't con with Pred) are available once you get outside of the gate of Katta
- other zones are available via port pads outside of Katta, some appear to be broken....
- Shissar models apparently see-invis

Checked out the reef zone: full of the crab men models, slarilug models, and little Kelorek'Dars (possibly a new mob for sea dragon meat?). Ran into a named- Murkdiver- hits up to 1600? red con, snareable/slowable and summons. Dunno of any drops as he ate my SK box and ate me shortly after....

- looks like there is a lot of quests to do, and a lot of faction building to start on... looks like a lot of stuff to keep someone occupied... so, I am looking forward to it...

I too went to Katta to look around. The city is one huge circle, the inner most portion is the area controlled by the Combine and the outer ring has the Shissar and other KOS mobs running around. The city can be confusing to find your way around because there are so few unique buildings/landmarks by which to navigate. Quest, Mission and Task NPCs are literally everywhere and once again SoE shows that they don't consider a group an actual group until you have 3 people.

There is a suprising lack of vendors selling normal goods that you can purchase with coin, but there are lots of vendors all selling things for points ala LDoN. You can't even see the list though to get an idea of what is in store for your class. There are a few solo task gives around but due to crashing, I only managed to find one given out by some lonely shissar at the top of a tower. He wanted me to pick up some items from the greenhouse. Never did find the greenhouse. /shrug

The Buried Sea zone is literally twice the size of Dreadlands. It's alot of water with a few islands in a ring around the center island that has the whirlpool leading down to Katta. On the islands you'll find various combinations of creatures like turtles, raptors, gorillas, lizards, undead pirate zombies/skellies and an island of spirocs who have built KFC 2.0. The last island has the main pirate population with a few non-KOS people by the dock. Nothing except the undead saw invis, though if you decide to go AFK by the dock on the pirate isle, keep invis up as the roaming lizards are KOS, lvl 75+ and hit for 1200.

I did some missions last night. I didn't touch the pirates side, so I'm not certain about that, what I say below is just what I've heard. My understanding is:

Rank 1 is buyable with Doubloons, and needs faction which you get from pirate missions.

Rank 2 is buyable with Onux, and needs faction which you get from progression missions (researchers).

Rank 3 is buyable from one of the other currencies, obtained from raids.

Talisman of Persistence is the first spell you can get and rank 2 cost 150 Onux. After the first 3 progression missions, I had 155 Onux but I didn't have the faction until I finished the 4th mission.

No other spell was visible to me at that time. I think they get opened up with faction.

The faction item you get from preordering is I think not for the progression faction and rank 2 spells, at least it didn't seem to make a difference to me. I think it must be just for the pirate stuff.
