my monk friend tested this too with the info i found,his epic reads a value of 8 light to,and his helm is a value of 7, 2 higher then my helm. and his stat loss is the same as mine based on our epics, but like i said you can currently trick the charm if you die,loot the charm first, it checks your naked body for light,doesnt find any,then equip your gear.
It will stay at max intill you switch out an item, like switch out the epic to slow with ta,then it will turn its self back on and search your body for light and it will find it and the only way to reset it again besides takeing off your light sources is to die and loot the charm first again
Im preaty sure thats a bug in the codeing atm
far as i know im the first one to figure this charm out,or atleast write down my findings, so hopeing i am the first,because it would be cool to get credit for discovering something on eq first before anyone else for the first time

some more findings just now thanks to my monk friend shig. If you zone, it resets the aug stats back to max, and it doesnt check for light intill you switch your items out again.
and i did the exact number crunch, its 9.5 hp/mana per 1 light value

Thanks, I've posted this to the devs... although if it resets after zoning, I'm not sure it's worth their time to recode it.

i like how the charm resets upon zoneing even tho thats probaly a bug and will be fixed, but when and if it is fixed is till think that 9.5 hp/mana per 1 light is a bit steep, since the damn epic is worth 8 light, maybe 5 hp/mana per light would be more fair, that would be a 40 hp loss rather then the 76 loss you currently take from epic

If it were working correctly, and since I wear Rit's cap at 5 and Brood Warden ring with light level 7, this should never be better than Wailing Soulshard for me. But if it's bugged to reset to full stats on every zone, it's much stronger than Wailing Soulshard, to the tune of 35hp, since I don't swap out the "8" to click; it just gets fired off from inventory.
Anyone else find it a little wierd that the gigantic flaming spear is a "0"?
Magelo needs a "light level" category on the mods page :/

looks to me like the charm is coded only to seek for light sources when you change weapons. if you wear no other light sources, it seems it would be nice at sucking up some of the HP loss from bandoliring to TA (which was a concern not to long ago as more expansions come out, TA weliders get father behind). if its going to add up all light sources, or penalize it much more for 2.0..they may as well reword the charm's descrition to "gains in power the longer you dont upgrade your gear to something better".

it doesnt add up all your light sources, it only counts your highest one, like with focus effects, so it counts my epic 8 ,if it counted my helm as well as my epic i would be at 13.

On normal it's pretty easy to kill everything, on Hard it's a royal disaster waiting to happen unless you have superior DPS. I expect this and a few other missions to get changed, 1 person shouldnt be able to complete a mission, hard even, in under 10 minutes.

Poking through some other common (and not so common) shaman gear for light levels:
Kanleku's Helm, 7
Crafted Talisman of Fates, 7
Spear of Fate, 7
Shamanistic Shenannigan Breastplate... 15!
Bracer of the Inferno, 8 (same as 2.0, i.e. switching epic out won't affect charm at all if you're also wearing this)
(Torch of Judgement is 3, Aegis is 8? riiiight)
Other items with wonky classes are somewhat of a pain to fish out of the database. Berserkers have it easy, they can find all usable items just setting the field to > 32k, but of course they're the only ones that can do something like that.

Furikuri, you should try out your charm with Silvery Mask. It's an easy to get item with Light level 15
