Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 2:58 pmSpell damage scales depending on the cast time of nukes. Procs are treated as zero cast time but still get a damage boost. Spell damage has no effect on DoTs (take off your focus items and see for yourself).
That's with 8 worn spell damage.
With the same 8 worn spell damage:
* SotQ does 3004 damage (ie no effect at all)
* Tundra Crumble does 1829 damage (ie +9 damage from base)
Heroic STA adds 10 HPs per point (for shamans) plus 1 overcap STA and its normal returns.
Heroic WIS adds 10 mana per point and adds 1 overcap WIS (and its normal returns)
That's with 8 worn spell damage.
With the same 8 worn spell damage:
* SotQ does 3004 damage (ie no effect at all)

He's level 65 and has 5 worn spell damage. Now, you'd imagine that he'd not get anything out of that due to the 75 minimum, but...
It works on procs. Furthermore, it works unequally on procs.

As you cast a spell I assume the following: The system does a cross-check of your (caster)-lvl, the spell lvl, and your relevant casting skill. That is one reason you fizzle high lvl spells more often then spells below your lvl. If your skill is too low you fizzle chance is increased. The same can happen if your casting lvl is debuffed.
Contrary to your real lvl, if that decreases you can not cast spells above it at all of course. Thats also a reason while I use the mage fire elemental illusion on raids, because it raises caster lvl beside the DS boost. The boost is not much, but we all hate fizzles.
Biggest clicky for caster lvl comes from... from Aten Ha Ra I think. And it is Shm useable!!
