SoF Tier 2+ Armor upgrades - what about Augs ?

Just wanted to inquire something - got me some Ancient Scaled Leggings yesterday, and researched here if they're upgradeable. So i found they are, but i am fearing something, and thats when i eventually will get a fitting Gyro Core and later on a Essence in Crystallos to upgrade it to full that it will eat my Augments. I experienced such as i tried to downgrade my Chromatic Dedicant BP because i wanted to use the Prismatic Essence in some Boots.
Do i have to fear now that when i put a Slot 14 Purity Aug in my Ancient Scaled stuff now, those 1000 Orum / Orux will be gone as well ? Anyone out there knows ? Would be much appreciated if someone could shed a light on this matter, or point me to a already existing post. Thanks yall in advance.
