Nobody will lose out through this. It's much like a lot of the changes that they've made over the years - they've made it easier to level 1-50, for example. The tutorial makes it easier for true newbies to get started. They've removed hell levels, xp penalties, etc... Remember when they removed the xp penalties, some people suggested that it was unfair because they'd done things "the hard way". Same here.

It'll be easier in the future, but that's also a plus for existing players. It'd make it easier to level up an alt, or change mains, for your friends to catch up, or get new blood into the guild, etc.

I don't think people who've done it "the hard way" should get an AA bonus, but maybe they could give anyone who has enough AAs that they won't benefit from this a little token gesture. Maybe a clicky that has a fun or semi-useful effect on it, similar to mounts, or illusion clickies they've had for buying expansions or beta testing, etc. Call it "Totem of the Grinder".

I am at 2260 right now with my shaman and I think it is a great idea. I don't want/need anything for this change at all. In fact, I really don't even care about aa's anymore...I don't think that I have popped lesson on my shaman since SoF came out.

My monk could love it though (@800) pending on how they implement it.

Uhm... AAs aren't a status symbol. At least, not in any of the circles I've ever come into contact with. Sure, they're great for making the newbs feel downtrodden when someone says "Yay! Ding 300!" and someone else in the group says "LOL! I has 1764!" but that's exactly the sort of experience that I hope this squelches.

Most of the folks I know with lots of AAs seem to feel almost sheepish about it, in the sense of "God, I know I have no life." That's really the only "Status" having lots of AAs conveys.
