The Spirocs are meant to be linked in trios, each trio has one Vanquisher and two little spirocs that are meant to respawn instantly if their Vanquisher is still alive.
This is sometimes bugged however, my experience has been that if all 3 Vanquishers are alive, or if only 1 Vanquisher is alive then the instant respawns don't always happen - so I usually kill one Vanquisher and leave two alive until I get the feather to drop.
I do not believe that the Spirocs are actually aggro linked, however all the spirocs have amazingly large social aggro range - so chances are that when you start fighting you will eventually end up with all 9 non-boss spirocs beating on you. For this reason I do use a green pet to pull the spirocs, using a green pet to pull means that (1) you don't risk either of the two boss spirocs aggroing (which is bad because they DT). and (2) it staggers out a bit the rate at which the other spirocs run within aggro-assist range and join the battle (so you have time to do malos-slow lock-downs without being mobbed).
To pull, park your puppy out close to where your target paths, and pick a target that is not a caster (the Vanquishers are safest), then when the target spiroc is close to your puppy do attack-hold-follow - this is the best way because the Spiroc move so fast that they can be on the far side of the island before your puppy tags them otherwise.
Oh, one last tip for Spiroc island - click off any damage shields, because all the spirocs summon and you will suffer from ping-pong if 5 or 6 start summoning you due to damage shield.
The same is true for the wasp island, they have amazingly large aggro range. It is possible to green-pet pull them singly if you pull to behind the gear, however the Wasp closest to the Gear is the Boss chain and it will sometimes add - but this is not a problem so long as you can keep track of which wasp is which.
I usually just let the initial wasp in the boss chain hit on me and ignore him, apart from keeping him malosed and slowed, he will do very little damage. I can then kill each of the other chains in turn, all the whilst ignoring the wasp fluttering it's wings at me and mostly missing.
