my comment on MMs is going to seem to be a catch 22 sort of disprove itself kind of thing, but here goes...
EQ was started as a roll playing game. You pick a class and learn (xp/skill up) and aquire items and do quests and advance yourself in EQ society with a certain class. If you wanted to "reroll", you started another class and worked that class up in eq society. You could be good, you could be evil, you could quest, you could raid, you could be a barter toon for that matter... so many options, but it was a roll playing game where you could, without actually being on a roll play server *wink wink* or even be a totally loony RPer, dive into a new world and be defined but not limited by one class. you grouped with people of similar relative skill (ie-levels, caster/melee skills, goals, ect...) This is the game i signed up for...
i will admit, it seems fun to play as vox or naggy, one or two times jsut to give it a shot... nostalgia... what have you... pure fun factor of going through it, pref without xp or loot reward, would be enough to do it once or twice. maybe more...
my own views-
I didn't sign up to spend a ton of time advancing my toons to just have some skilless 1-900-MixALot, who spent 2 weeks doing straight HHK playing as a 1-900-MixALot sentry (wtf class is that, cuz it isn't one we can roll,) to gain level 70 with 100AA, waste my time by grouping with me and pretending he has any clue what he is doing with is class. *deep breath* friends of mine have grouped with people who are level 70 and constantly fizzle 10 times in a row. WTFF! I don't care how others game, but the vast majority of us have put in the effort to have a level 70 toon with some respectable AA (whatever the amount,) and we know how to play our class. I find it personally insulting that someone can XP to 70 in that short an amout of time without even playing the class they rolled, and then group with those of us who actually enjoy playing our class.
HHK style XP pisses me off to no 1-900-MixALot end. I think it is going to be one of the things that eventually kills eq. (i am talking about 1 thing that, in the long run, adds to EQ's death.)
for a gamers analogy-HHK type xp is like some hack in halflife that makes the "Noobs" able to shoot people in the head through walls. Even with this major advantage they still 1-900-MixALot suck because they have no clue what they are doing. It is ZERO fun gaming with them...
to note- all that being said, if i as to grab another acount and PL a toon i would do it in HHK. although, i wouldn't even pretend to know the class, and i would never group it with others without warning them how much i suck because of hhk...
i hate these changes to eq.
