Write up ideas for a new consolidation slow

I really think that you'll all be disappointed if you go for an AA turgur. I'll pretty much guarantee that SOE will put a long (probably minutes, not seconds) recast time on it.

The shaman community, those with and without TA's, would benefit from a -60 check 6.5min duration fast cast slow. No one is going to benefit with an AA slow unless its instant recast. I highly doubt you'll get a zero recast AA. Without the zero recast, it will not compare to the TA.

A single -60 check 6.5min duration slow, however, would bridge the gap a bit. If that spell existed, it'd be a real choice whether I wanted to use my TA or the new spell. Take Sendaii for example. TA is great for cycling slow across 12 adds after they have all been locked down and/or pre slowed with BoD. But if I had that single spell, I'd only have to do it once. Even with a recast time on the spell of 6 seconds or so, I bet the time to slow all adds on something like Sendaii would be fairly close between a TA user and a -60 6.5min slow user due to TA resists.

And for highly resistant boss mobs, I might drop my TA altogether. Typically all spam BoD until it lands, then click TA's until that lands, which can take a while sometimes. If we all had a single -60 check Turgur, hardly anyone would use a TA for that. 2-3 spells worth of mana for probably nearly double the chance to land, versus cycling TA for a much longer time praying it lands...

All in all, the TA would remain good for its zero cost, and ability to keep your gems up in between slow attempts, but it would pale in comparison to the consistent slowing that a long duration neg check slow would have.

Having the spell would also help us a a lot as main healers. Getting slow done fast, and not having to worry about it wearing off, would be a great boon. Ever fought a long fight where you slowed on inc with BoD, and could just barely keep up with heals? Then BoD wears off midway thru the fight? If I have time, I'd malis on inc, then TA or Turgur, but a lot of times, you just do not have the time.

Now, if SOE says, sure, here's an instant recast turgurs AA, I'll bite my tongue. But I do not think its gonna happen. In which case, have fun with your AA that bounces every 3 minutes:)

But does it make a difference on whether you are the classic "apple" shaped body build or the "pear" shaped build?

For the apple build, where excess body fat is stored more above the waist (spare tire), it's best not to concentrate on targetting the affected area with specific exercise routines. Doing more crunches is not good here, because you actually build muscle mass while not reducing the fat.

Likewise for the pear build, where excess body fat is stored below the waist (junk in the trunk and thunder thighs), you don't want to target those butt muscles or thighs with vigorous exercise. While it is true that the skeletal muscles expend calories at a much greater rate than non-skeletal muscles, doing leg presses is not the best route to lose that fat.

The answer is, for both builds, a more aerobic and varied exercise approach is the best way to reduce the body fat. And cut down on the carbs, esp those sodas, chips, and donuts. That's really what's "slowing" you down.

Of course, consolidating good exercise with good diet is the best approach. However, just because you don't have the TA of weight control -- $$ to get liposuctions and personal trainers -- doesn't mean you can't use the old-school (Turgur's) mentality of morning jogs alongside the anti-instant gratification (Balance of Discord) mantra of "less carbs, more liquids."

It's not that you lack the tools. It's the temptations that are getting in your way.

You can have your cake and eat it too -- if you work it out of your system. Otherwise, you're just riding the "gimme gimme now fat-wagon of whining while dining" for cheesier cheesy poofs and sweeter sweet teas, and wanting it NOW, dammit!

Wouldn't the solution to tugur's and TA be simply something like making a new slow spell,
that has little MR mod adjustment, same 6.5 mins duration as tugur's, around a 3-4 sec
cast time, and that does something else on top of the 75 percent slow?

Like the opposite of a spell haste, or an avoidance debuff, or mitigation debuff, or making
the target more susceptible to melee attacks, or reducing the amount of attacks the target
is allowed to make per round, or reducing the amount of DB per attack, or reducing
the amount of damage dealt by a percentage, or disabling special attacks like kicks, bash,
backstab, and the like, or something along those lines?

If a new slow were middle of the road between Tugur's and Balance on specs, but did something
completely new that shamans and their groupmates and/or raidmates found appealing, I think
that would be a good solution, or at least a nice bridge of power.

I like the idea of slows with additional utility. I also like the idea of slows on different resist checks (Brrrr... cold). But neither will replace the TA. TA is a mana free, spell gem free, 3 second/cast while your gems are grey, 6.5 minute long, ass kicking tool. No spell will ever replace TA while it does all that.

As a non-raiding shaman, I do like the Snaky Slow AA. I play a fair amount, but do not and will not belong to a raiding guild. Real life keeps me from having a set of free times to go raiding on a schedule, but I still pay my $ to play and I do play. I will not have the chance at a TA, but can get 40AA. I wouldn't bother me too much if it cost twice the amount of AA for non-raiding casual players as it would TA owners.
Now should a raiding shaman be angry about others having this same ability that they have spent time getting? I could see where they would be defensive about it. I mean they have spent a good amount of thier time going on raids to get a thing such as a TA, but I don't think that is the only thing they have gotten from it. There are things I will not have that they have because I can't raid...mana, stats, and HP come to mind.
