So I bought Titanium and decided to start a Drakkin mage to box with Jaraman. I also have a cleric on another account, and was thinking of levelling up a monk on that account while I power-levelled the mage with Jara. A friend has a 75 necro main, a soon-to-be 75 casual-geared SK, and will be bringing up a druid to 3 box while I level up my 2 newbie toons. Last, another friend who plays much more casually has a 70 warrior and 70 wizard. I have password access to the Warrior and Wizard whenever I want. I much prefer to concentrate on Jara as my main, rather than tank the warrior while Jara becomes a sham-bot. Pretty soon it won't matter tho because my other friend's SK will be able to out-tank both the warrior and raid-geared Jaraman.

Jaraman, mage, monk or cleric
Necro, SK, druid
(warrior, wizzy)

The question: Which Dragon should I choose for my Drakkin mage's heritage? I've narrowed it down to either the Fire dragon or the Magic dragon, with the prismatic dragon a distant 3rd. Here are the different breath weapon innates at the final level. The main question concerns the debuff aspect.


1: Decrease HP when cast by 614
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 308 per tick
3: Decrease Magic Resist by 25


1: Decrease HP when cast by 614
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 308 per tick
3: Decrease Fire Resist by 25


1: Decrease HP when cast by 614
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 308 per tick
3: Decrease All Resists by 5

Malis
2: Decrease Cold Resist by 66
3: Decrease Magic Resist by 66
4: Decrease Poison Resist by 66
5: Decrease Fire Resist by 66

Initially I thought the Breath Weapon was an unresistable debuff; turns out it's not. I was thinking of using it as a kind of mini-Tash, to help in landing Malosinia, or even to have Jara just use the Idol all the time, Drakkin mage BW then Malosinia. But I don't know if slot 3: decrease magic from Osh'Vir will stack with slot 3: (unresistable) decrease magic from (Idol of) Malos...

If they won't stack because they both share slot 3, then it would be kind of worthless to use the magic BW... as an intial debuff, if the mob is resisting Malosinia anyways, chances are the BW debuff won't land. But if it stacks with the Idol, then -40 and -25 makes -65, which is Malis quality MR debuff for the cost of only an Idol of Malos every 3 mobs or so.

If not, then maybe I should go with either Prismatic for the stacking of an additional -5 to all resists, but what is that really? Crap. My necro friend thinks I should get the Fire BW, being that mages are strong in fire nukes... but he has a druid he'll be boxing, and I'll be expecting him to debuff fire with , which has slot 7 fire debuff that stacks with Malis.

At level 75, a racial innate that only does less than 2k damage every 5 minutes is not great DPS. But if the debuff aspect is used creatively, it could be a handy extra to have available. So what do you think? Magic for cheaper Malis stackability, or fire just because mages have good fire nukes and Fire is one of the easier mob resist lines to land?

The best solution is not either/or, but best-of.

well if it was great DPS, it'd potentially be unbalancing.

after looking over mage spells....and they have magic as well as fire spells....fire being more prominent (and generally stronger) in mage spell line up, and would also would give benefits to characters you'd be associating with...

fire seems to be the most logical choice to me.

magic wouldn't be a bad choice, I just don't see it helping as much as fire.
prismatic would, on average, be easier to land (thus being a logical choice for just doing extra damage), however the amount debuffed is pretty miniscule. not many classes get prismatic dmg spells.

jaraman is the main, support his casting first. The only thing that really resist fire nukes on my mage is fire-type creatures (lava spiders, solA, solB, lavastorm...), there is no real need to reduce fire resist more than malis(sinia) already does for a mages nukes. however 25 more MR debuff to get turgur/balance to land, or juju/sislak to land would be $$.

I intend Jara to be the main, which is why I'm leaning magic for the BW. The BW will be used as a pre-emptive strike. Debuffs happen well within the first 3 tics it lasts... /mem i for Idol, drop Idol, swap it out, then after TA on the mob, and maybe cripple, I'd just have to lead in with Juju/Sisslak instead of Nectar. The whole idea is to offload casting Malis from Jara, thereby opening up another spellgem for him. All the while keeping mage Malosinise resists down to a minimum.

Only thing is, the BW and Malxxx both share slot 3 for magic -- will the debuffs still stack? No matter, unless swayed by some compelling reason, I'm gonna go with magic, even tho the red Drakkin look cooler...

magic does not stack with any of the malxxx line.
fire does not stack with many DoTs, some shaman, some necro.

Logic says they won't stack, since they are both in the same slot. EQ, however... who knows?

BTW, this is a cone-shaped AE, like Antraygus. I wonder if the Drakkin get the full cone shape or just the half cone we got with Antraygus?

I picked Oshvir for all three of my Drakkin alts, because blue's my favorite color (most of the time).
