I just say 'sure' and then don't do it until after. No complaints... lately.
One problem is too few spellsets. If I had a spellset for every encounter, no biggie, I'd do /mem buff4 or whatever, which would put that buff in, say, slot 5, cast it, the /mem mob37, which would replace slot 5 with what it's supposed to have. But I only get 10. So I have to figure out which of my lineup is least needed, incase we get repops or the pull comes, click it off, mouse around through the tree to the buff you want, load it up, target you (/rtar if you were smart and sent a tell), get it on you, click it off, mouse around through the tree to the spell I need to have up for this mob, and mem it. I can't be very reactive to debuffing the incoming mob if I"m in the middle of all that.
With enough Shamans on a raid, I ask each to keep a particular buff up, so three of us each sacrifice one gem. And no, you don't get wrulan during the pull - only the Big Three.
