Shaman Healer in UF

Hi, this is my first post but I have been following these forums for quite some time. I play an 85 shaman on Tunare server with about 2.2k aas.

From what experience I have had in UF zones I am not able to function as a solo main healer at all. I can do trash, but Cooling Chambers nameds I have no chance. I look at nameds in other zones and a good many have heavy ae damage...I see myself having even more problems with those.

I guess my question is- is anyone else feeling this? Are we not meant to be main healers anymore? I remember during SoF a dev stating it was their intention any of the 3 priests be able to perform as the main solo healer for any of the 3 tanks, does anyone know if that is still their intention?

My gear is half group/half tower. I have all my rk3 heals and Counterbias rk2. I do not yet have Frost Gift.

I guess Im posting here out of frustration. I have always viewed myself as a healer and geared myself as such. I thought we were doing well with the heal revamp but now I feel as if I am in tier 3 and 4 SoF all over again.

Please share thoughts or opinions, Ive felt quite lost these few months.

I will certainly keep an eye out for it. I had had mixed feelings towards it because it seems like by the time I would target a mob and cast the nuke, I could have just had another heal incoming. But I will take your word for it and try to go after it.

Another thing that concerns me is the group healing...healing twincast does not work on HoTs so it seems as if our class was left out in the cold as far as doubling group heal power goes. Some of the aes nameds can cast are downright nasty: A Rogue Builder with "Rockcrusher" 23k AE 8sec recast or An Overgrown Crystalkin with "Crystalline Shard Volley" 17k AE and 4k DoT 18sec recast. Maybe these aes seem worse then they really are? Are you able to solo main heal through some of these mobs?

I will try to get Frost Gift as soon as I can and then see if I have better luck. Thank you very much for the response and suggestion.

As I suspected. It is a tough pill to swallow, I can only hope that changes in the future. Whether or not I will still be playing only time will tell.

Depth of the tank's HP pool is more relevant versus Cooling Chambers undead than any other group content in the game, due to their large spell effects. Have your tank swap from Metal to Elemental for them.

Hmm, I think it'd be more on the tank side than your fault, I healed the entire CC mission today, with only 1042 aa's.
Course it was a korfax/some tower gear'd warrior.

Just hcb, hot on inc and spam heal.

Had to do the occasional emergency intervention.

Had Healing adept maxed, healing crits 14/21, 80% heal t3 raid arms,

I can solo heal all the way up to t9 as a group geared Shaman on a group geard tank on yard trash...
I also have close to 4k aa and so does the tank (Paladin) I normally group with.
My grouping occassionally consists of a 2nd Shaman and the 2 of us usually have no problem healing together until we hit a named.

Really its not feasible solo healing for anything but short periods of time.
Chaining Frost Gift and Dannal gets seriously mana intensive.
Not to mention your really depending on crits.
On named there is just no recourse but dropping folks for a merc or 3 depending on the the named.

A couple of suggestions dont ignore regen or Listlessness.
When your in trouble HoT stack with Epic, Ancestral Aid, Group/Single HoT and a bp click (new armors).
Healing Twincast DOES work on AI.
The forced spell gem refresh aa helps on all of one spell really and its AI.

Me personally, if a tank needs Wild Growth on yard trash they are too weak for what your doing in the first place. It really should be named only or look for a new tank.

Yeah I have noticed that I think you get the mana cost on both heals... Should test that but pretty sure thats the case.

This is what I've been doing for UF albiet my tank is a bit easier to heal being a well AA'd/geared pally with CoL clickies.
HoT on inc, malo, HC,lynx, cast AI to catch up, FG, dannal's dannals, Turg's, FG dannal's dannal's, grp hot
Named I run with List & WG, T8 BP clickie and HoT on call... malo, HC, epic, AA, CoA, AG, Third, Lynx, AI to catch up...FG dannal's dannal's till dead.
AI will get cast in there earlier if needed then refreshed with Forceful Rejuv.
I was doing this with mostly t5 grp, a couple of tower pieces and some t7-8 grp pieces and about 1300 aa's(healing all but boon done) so my crits are generally 23-24k then over 30k with either his epic or CoL going. Generally AI was upper 30's to 40's depending on his health at the time. Twin crits range from double 20's to 9k with a 1500 kicker but on average seem to fall in the 19-21 range.
Think the trick is geting the most out of the dps in your grp make up the grp I ran with was pally, necro, zerker,shaman,monk,mage. Things die fast making it doable for me
